Travelling is something everyone longs to do. Seeing the beauty of the world around us is one of the most valuable, educational and incredible experiences of a lifetime. Many of my favourite memories took place in a another country where I got to explore, try something new or learn a new word in a different language.
Figure skating with Disney On Ice, I was on a plane almost every other week; each time more excited than the next. Through meeting new people and indulging in new cultures, I learned so much about myself and the world around us.
Travelling truly opens your mind and allows you to find yourself. I really struggled with confidence growing up, constantly second guessing myself. But, travelling showed me that there is so much more to life than the little box that we confide our minds too. You pass by people on the streets everyday that you will never see again; they never even look your way. Everyone is so wrapped up in their own life to have time to judge you.
I realized that people weren’t looking at me and judging me as much as I thought they were in my head.
We are our own harshest critics.
Truly think about the times you go through your day judging a stranger.
You don’t. You are focused on yourself and the task ahead. So remain that way and don’t let your mind find toxic ways to talk to yourself.
Never turn down the chance to travel. Whether that’s 500km or 5000km. You will learn something new about yourself, the world around you and have another memory to cherish.
Recently, one of my friends told me that ever since I came back from Europe I’ve seemed like a new person; someone who knows what they want and is confident in what they want. This was the moment I realized that I did “change” in Europe. I grew and I became confident and definite in my decisions.
The chance to travel gave me the chance to become confident.
