Travelling around the globe with Disney On Ice, I was on an airplane almost every two weeks! I definitely learnt some travel hacks along the way…
As someone who loves to over pack and shop, my suitcase was constantly over flowing. Packing cubes became a life saver!!! I used them to organize all my clothes and it made packing and unpacking a lot easier. I was able to find everything I was looking for and there was absolutely no wasted space. Rolling your clothes instead of folding them will also save a ton a room and allow you to bring those extra tops that you just can’t bare to leave behind.
2. Neck Pillows aren’t over rated
We all know how long airports days can be. Neck pillows always come in handy when trying to find a place to rest your head. And they are even more important if you get stuck in that middle seat. If you enjoy sleeping on the plane I would also suggest an eye mask and some ear plugs to tune out an background noise and distractions.
3. Hard shell luggage with spinning wheels & Luggage weigher
Keeping your stuff safe is definitely a necessity… We all know how badly our luggages get thrown around, so having a hard shell case is essential! Trying to pull around a heavy luggage is already inconvenient enough. I suggest have 4 wheels that spin in all directions that way you can easily control the direction of your suitcase and your arms won’t hurt by the end of the travel day. Next, LUGGAGE WEIGHER…. I didn’t even know these existed until I got to tour. But, they sure do come in handy. No one likes to pay extra because their luggage weighs too much, so definitely invest in a hand held luggage weigher!
4. Portable Charger
Our phones are our best past times in an airport and having a low battery before you even step onto your 12 hour flight can be one of the most annoying notifications. Investing in a high quality portable charger is something you won’t regret, but don’t forget to charge it the night before!!!
5. A Journal
Personally, I love writing. Journaling on the plane is one of my favourite past times. I love remembering everything I did in that country and having a place to put all those memories. It makes time fly by! I personally really enjoy the Moleskin bullet journals as you can get super creative and personalize them to your liking.
6. Toiletry bag & electronic organizer
I hate having to scavenge through by bag to find something. So staying organized is a priority to make your travel experience seamless. In my toiletry bag I keep everything from a tooth brush and tooth paste, hair brush, advil, nail filer, mini sewing kit, deodorant, hand wipes, lip balm, dry shampoo etc. (of course all the mini sizes). This just helps me stay at ease knowing that everything I need is available to me. Also, keep your electronics organized, this way you don’t have a mess of tangled cords at the end of your trip. Making sure you know where everything is, saves yourself the hassle through all the security lines, because you already know exactly which bags to take out!
I only made this mistake once… and had to go the week with natural hair… Always keep one on you even if you think you won’t need it!
Hope these tips help! I cannot wait to be back in and airport and feel that excitement of going somewhere new.
