“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
My name is Hannah Dugas and I come from a small community called Black-River Matheson. Though I come from a small community, I have accomplished big things and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!
I want to start with who I am. I’m 18 years old, which means I am still so young and have a lot to experience! I just recently graduated high school this past June and that was such a bittersweet moment. I loved every part of high school and didn’t want to leave, but I knew that there was so much waiting for me.
I always devoted myself to school. I worked hard and always strived to get good grades, but I also was involved. I am a strong believer of being involved and how it changes your whole highschool experience. I was involved all over the board. I curled competitively, I was in spirit competitions, student council, I was a Link Leader for two years and I was also involved in drama. I was a part of my school’s Knights in Lights drama team and it was my favorite activity. We competed in district and regional levels at the Sear’s/National Theatre School Drama Festival and always brought home all sorts of awards. The best part of it was the family that we became. I will always hold a special place in my heart for my Knights in Lights.
Right now, my heart is set on pageants and has been for the past year or so. I am taking a gap year from school and have decided that for this next year, I would focus on better myself and gaining new experiences. I have also chosen to focus on pageants for a little bit! My pageant journey has been going on for quite a while now. I competed in my first pageant in 2017, which was the Black River-Matheson Fall Fair Queen Pageant. I went on to win that pageant the next year which was so incredible to win because I was able to go on and represent my home town!
After the BRM pageant, I decided that I’d like to keep going on my pageant journey. My next pageant was Miss North Ontario in Sudbury, ON. At that pageant, I was given more self-confidence, but also the opportunity to compete at Miss World Canada! I couldn’t believe that I had this chance and I was ecstatic. I also participated in the Miss Teen Ontario North pageant and won Miss Photogenic which was also amazing!
So far, pageants have had such an incredibly positive influence on my life. I am so excited for Miss World Canada 2019 to begin and am so excited for this experience. I have so much more to share, but I also have more blogs to write.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I hope you’ve learned a thing or two about me!
