Victoria Leask

Hi there! My name is Victoria Leask and I am Miss Durham Region World. I am from a small town in Durham Region called Port Perry. I was born and raised here and have embraced small town living for 19 years now. I hope to encourage small town children to shoot for the stars! No dream is too big!

Family Life

A photo from our family camping trip to Bon Echo Provincial Park in 2016. This provincial park is known for its native pictographs which cam be found on the rock, an escarpment reaching 330 feet high.

I have grown up surrounded by an amazing family and support system. I would not be the young woman I am today without them. As the eldest daughter with two younger sisters I have watched my parents work tirelessly to provide the best life for my sisters and I. We have been fortunate enough to make memories whilst camping, exploring our forested backyard and traveling to Walt Disney World. Throughout the years we have enjoyed family camp fires, road trips to the beach and plenty of Sunday movie nights. We don’t get to pick our families and I am so thankful for mine.

My education has always been important to me and I have worked very hard throughout all of my years in school. I have attended a total of 4 schools so far! My first years of elementary school were spent at Epsom Public School where I finished kindergarten and grades 1 through 6. Afterwards I moved on to attend S.A Cawker Public School w

My graduation photo from high school. I graduated in 2017.

here I completed grades 7 and 8. After graduating elementary school I took my pencil crayons and Judy Moody books and exchanged them for scientific calculators and

500 page textbooks at Port Perry High School. I graduated high school with honours and an award recognizing my entrepreneurial skills I had displayed while spear-heading my very own business. My new journey began last fall when I moved to the big leagues. I packed for Kitchener to attend Conestoga College’s interior decorating program. I have worked so

hard throughout all my years at school and I love seeing it all pay off now that I am studying for my dream job!

I’m not usually left with a lot of spare time while I balance school and work but when I do have spare time I love being creative. From a young age I have always enjoyed to draw and paint. Now, I love to create all kinds of art, but my current favourites are flower realism and fashion sketching. I also love to read. My favourite books include; To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Me Before You by Jojo Moyes and Delirium by Lauren Oliver. There is nothing more relaxing than grabbing a blanket, making a cup of tea and reading a book after a long hard day! I also love to help make a difference in the lives of people in my community.

Charity Work

Last November I was awarded a Canada for 150 Award for my charity work within my community! This is one of many awards I have received throughout the years of running my charity.

I have had my own charity since I was 12. I remember thinking of the children who had to spend their birthdays, summers and Christmas’ in the hospital and I wanted to make that time better for them. I decided to start making friendship bracelets for the children so they knew another child was thinking of them. I got my friends involved and they helped make the bracelets and some bookmarks for the patients. The next year I decided to try and get my elementary school involved. We all worked together to make craft kits so the children in the hospital could make a craft while in the comfort of their beds. When I was in high school I approached my math teacher who helped me get the rest of the high school involved in bringing happiness to the hospital. Within my years at the high school we sent thousands of DVD movies, portable DVD players, video games, treasure box items, and brand new gifts to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto as well as the pediatric ward

at Lakeridge Health. I am so proud of my community and all that we have accomplished. We have touched so many families and children and made their hospital visits a little better.

Hope that gives a little glimpse of who I am!

Thanks for reading and until next time, have a wonderful Day!
