Princess & Superhero Dance Party

in Support of the Children’s Wish Foundation

Beauty With a Purpose

There were several factors that influenced my decision to compete for Miss World Canada this year.

I didn’t know much about pageantry before competing for the provincial qualifier in January and hardly anything about the various organizations involved in this industry.  But, after doing some research, I was especially drawn to the Miss World Canada organization and their Beauty With a Purpose ethos.  Pageantry isn’t only about physical beauty, but most importantly, it’s about channeling your inner beauty.  Miss World Canada puts internal beauty on the forefront.  Delegates are role models, community leaders, philanthropists, humanitarians.

Charity Involvement

The Miss World Canada organization is committed to giving back.  Each year, Miss World Canada is proud to support different charities across Canada, including Cardiac Kids in Support of Sick Kids Foundation and the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.  The Miss World Canada organization strongly believes that every child should be empowered to be the best they can be.

Children’s Wish Foundation Fundraiser

The delegates for the national Miss World Canada pageant are currently raising funds for the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.  As a delegate, I am excited to support the Children’s Wish Foundation in their mission to grant heartfelt wishes to children between the ages of 3 and 17 who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.

Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada

The Children’s Wish Foundation is the largest and only all-Canadian wish-granting charity dedicated to granting wishes to Canadian children between the ages of 3 and 17 who are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. For more than 30 years, Children’s Wish has worked to grant heartfelt wishes to more than 25,000 children and their families – that’s three wishes each and every day, all year long!

Wishes have a positive and lasting impact on the children and their families, beyond the experience of the actual wish. Wishes help to aid the overall healing process, provide a distraction that helps children cope with the emotional and physical stress of treatment, improve family cohesion, and inspire Wish children in long-lasting ways.

Children’s Wish Princess and Superhero Party

I wanted to help bring the power of a wish to children, families and communities across Canada by not only raising funds for the organization, but also getting involved and dedicating my time and skills to help create moments of hope for Wish children.

After searching for ways that I could get involved with Children’s Wish, I stumbled across the Children’s Wish Princess and Superhero Parties.  The Children’s Wish Princess and Superhero Parties take place across the country, with the goal of bringing joy to Wish children and their families through a magical, fun-filled evening.

On March 15, I traded in my pageant gown for my Elsa gown and attended the third annual Princess and Superhero Dance Party in support of the Children’s Wish Foundation at Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex in Toronto.

Did you know the month of March is Children’s Wish Month?  This year, we celebrated the 25,000 wish granted!

A Magical Evening

Our little guests began to arrive at 4:00 pm, dressed as regal princesses and brave superheroes.

The little princesses and superheroes got to mix and mingle with their favorite characters, as they enjoyed an action-packed party filled with games, cool music, and delicious treats from Sofina Foods Inc.!

There were several stations and activities set up for the children, including an arts and crafts station, interactive games, a photo booth, dance floor and more.

Aveda Institutes Canada pampered the little princesses at the Princess Beauty Parlour, with hair and makeup, adding rosy cheeks and a touch of lip gloss.

Dotsy’s Entertainment Co. had a station for face painting and makeup.

There was an incredible photobooth to photograph the memories – a large magic mirror as featured in Snow White, with the Evil Queen instructing the princesses and superheroes how to pose as the fairest in all the land.

There were horse and carriage rides on the royal grounds of the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex.

As you can see in the photos, there were flurries that evening… The children insisted I put my glove back on to conceal my icy powers!

We boogied on the dance floor to super cool tunes.

R2-D2 arrived as a special guest, along with fellow Star Wars characters.

The children unleashed the force with lightsabers made of pool noodles.

There was a fun game of shooting targets with silly string (or “spider webs”).

We concluded the evening by winding down with some bedtime stories with Spiderman from The Superhero Company.

The Presenting Sponsor for the evening was Fortress Real Developments.

The vision, experience, and awe-inspiring elements wouldn’t have been possible without the creative visionaries at Mosaic North America.

The Fairmont Royal York added the elegance to the evening.

As a volunteer at this event, I am so happy that I could help to make the magic happen!  It was not only a huge success in terms of an afternoon full of memories for our attendees, it was also successful in raising $100,000 in support of the mission to make heartfelt wishes come true.
