Oh my, don’t we wish we had all the time in the world to take care of ourselves. In our fast-paced society, we often forget that we are basically plants with complex emotions. We need water, sunlight, food, love and other basic necessities in order to grow.
As a person working full-time, who loves having side-projects and attempts at some kind of social and family life. I get it! It’s hard! How do we balance all of our responsibilities, our goals, our ambitions andddd somehow still find time to take care of our bodies?
Thankfully, we are not alone in our quest. When we start looking and asking around, we can find many people with a similar dilemma. This is why my first fitness tip is gather to conquer! If you are having a hard time staying active, find friends and people in your surroundings with a similar goal so you can motivate each other. It’s amazing what can happen when you start asking around.
On top of it, we have the 21st century perks of social media, apps, websites like Facebook, Meetups, Instagram, and so much more. For example, I once asked on my condo’s Facebook group for a workout buddy to motivate each other. This is how I met my dear friend Katarina (picture below).
Not only do I get to love her adorable Yorkie on the daily, we motivate each other to get off the couch. We walk the dog together, go to the gym, and other fun activities.
Last week, I also found on Facebook of a workout group led by Naomi Belcamino that meets in the park. Within minutes, this beautiful person had us running up hills and later doing push-ups off a bench. Talk about challenging.
Staying active does not have to be solitary and repetitive. There are so many ways to get active. We also need to keep in mind that taking care of yourselves should be fun. It should make us feel energized, excited, full of life, and especially want to do it again. The gym isn’t the only to stay fit and active. So ask around, make friends, use your socials, and go out there to conquer your goals!
